Motorcycle combinations Then I came to the conclusion that although my own country took my motorbike license from me, I COULD ride bikes in third world countries! And indeed I have. It has not been without incident I have to say; In India, I sat as pillion whilst a man who was totally blind steered! I was fine shouting orders at low speed, he could hear me a treat. As soon as his confidence rose, so did the speed, so did the engine noise.... needless to say, I was scared! It was a very emotional time when I leapt on the front acting as my feet to stabilise me when stationary. It worked like a dream, I loved it! On a later visit to India, I had the opportunity to ride again. The bike owner sat on the back and I opened up the throttle. "Slow down!" he started screaming. This made me feel really good to be honest! I went faster and faster, thinking how I would really show him how well I could ride inspite of the wheelchair. "Slow down! Slow down!", his panic grew. We were fast coming up to a very busy junction..... and I had no brakes - non whatsoever - as he had been trying to tell me.....! |
